Community Partnerships

"they'll know we are christians by our love"

Cary Presbyterian Church supports many ministries and organizations, both locally and globally, through member involvement and financial gifts. From organizing within our church community, to supporting outside organizations that serve others, CPC is actively working to serve God and spread Christ's love.

Oak city Cares

Oak City Cares is a public-private partnership that connects individuals and families who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness to coordinated services that create a path to stable housing and renewed hope. One Sunday each month CPC members prepare and serve a meal at the Oak City Cares center in Raleigh.
David Brashier, Development and Communications Manager at OCC, visited CPC on Dec. 8, 2024 to tell us more about their work.

DORCAS FOOD PANTRY

On the third Thursday of each month, CPC volunteers help Dorcas clients by staffing their  Food Pantry.  Each volunteer must go through volunteer training at Dorcas and complete paperwork.  Please contact Alan Bancroft prior to signing up if you would like to be trained.

APPALACHIA SERVICE PROJECT (ASP)

Every summer, CPC sends intergenerational teams to ASP sites in rural Appalachia where they spend one week repairing residents’ homes, interacting with those living in the area, and growing in their understanding of God’s service to others. Applications for spots on the CPC team are generally available in February for adults and youth who have completed 8th grade.

ESPERANZA de Guatemala

CPC partners with Monte Sinai Iglesia Presbyterian in the highland town of Nimasac, Guatemala. We work with the indigenous people of Guatemala, the Maya, focusing on education and economic development through Esperanza de Guatemala, a 501(c)3 non-profit. CPC members support Esperanza de Guatemala by organizing fund raising events and providing funds for scholarships and other projects. A team including members of CPC visits Nimasac once a year, usually in the summer.

BE The HANDS!

Be the Hands is a week full of service opportunities partnering with local non-profit agencies to provide support to their ministries. Since the project began in November 2017, hundreds of volunteers have joined in this intergenerational service project that culminates with dinner and fellowship. The bulk of Be the Hands activities are moving to the spring in 2025. Find out more on our Be the Hands page.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Habitat for Humanity of Wake County works to provide and advocate for affordable housing. CPC members participate in Habitat building projects and can now volunteer at area Habitat ReStores and/or be an Advocacy Ambassador.

ONE WAKE

ONE Wake is a non-partisan, multi-racial, multi-issue group of religious congregations, associations, and other non-profits in the Wake County area with membership totaling in excess of 50,000 households. Members advocate for affordable housing, public transportation, mental health, and other issues.

MADAGASCAR MISSIONARIES

special offerings

Cary Presbyterian participates in two of the four church-wide Special Offerings of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) that are a collective witness to Jesus Christ’s love for the whole church: One Great Hour of Sharing during Lent/Easter and the Christmas Joy Offering. Over the years these offerings have provided ways for individuals and congregations to join each other and partner with other Christians in responding to a variety of concerns.
